The Importance of Responsibility

Hi Everyone!

This week we discussed the importance of Responsibility and you all wrote wonderful essays explaining what Responsibility means to you. After watching today's video on that topic, please tell me which story you liked best : the story of Icarus, the boy who flew too high; the story of King Alfred; or the story of the old woman and her three children. Also, please discuss which one of the three stories best explained to you the importance of Responsibility. Why did you like that story more than the others?

The Circuit

Hi everyone,

After reading "The Circuit" this week in class, I want you to think Panchito's character. How do you think his experiences as a young boy in a migrant family will shape his early life and his future? Will his family's decisions to keep moving and farming hurt him or make him a stronger person? How do you think his family's decisions will affect him and his siblings in general? Stop the Sun

Hello 8th Grade!

Are we ready to start the long weekend? Before we do that, let's discuss the story we read this week, by Gary Paulsen. "Stop the Sun" concluded with Terry finally hearing about some of his father's experiences in Vietnam. Given that Terry now understands his father a little better than before, what do you think will happen next? Will Terry still be embarrassed by some of his father's actions caused by PTSD? Will his father continue to open up to Terry? Has their relationship changed or remained the same? If so, how has it changed? Explain your answers.
