This week we read several different types of informational texts such as public documents, memos, and consumer documents. Please explain why it is important to read and understand all sorts of texts and written material, and not just fiction. Paul Revere's Ride
Hello 8th Grade Students!
Welcome to second semester! This week we read Paul Revere's Ride. In his poem, Longfellow writes,
Through all our history, to the last,
In the hour of darkness and peril and need,
The people will waken and listen to hear
The hurrying hoofbeats of that steed,
And the midnight message of Paul Revere.
Why does the poet believe that "in the hour of darkness and peril and need," Americans will remember Paul Revere's message? What significance does Paul Revere's story have today?
