Paul Revere's Ride

Hello 8th Grade Students!

Welcome to second semester! This week we read Paul Revere's Ride. In his poem, Longfellow writes,

Through all our history, to the last,
In the hour of darkness and peril and need,
The people will waken and listen to hear
The hurrying hoofbeats of that steed,
And the midnight message of Paul Revere.

Why does the poet believe that "in the hour of darkness and peril and need," Americans will remember Paul Revere's message? What significance does Paul Revere's story have today?

  1. I think that Americans will remember Paul Revere's message because it is about them that they will wake up and even at any time and listen to each other so they can go for victory all Americans have done this through all of their history they have listened to each other and they always together went for win or for even victory.

  6. Americans look back at this brave and famous scene of Paul Revere because it changed America's perspective forever. He was determined to aware the town the new message as soon as possable, and so he did. His will-powered perspective and utter panickiness lead him to chant "The British are coming!" through all villages and towns. If Americans never got that warning, it would have affected America today in a huge way.

  7. Americans will always remember Paul Revere's bravery. What he did that one night is part of the reason the Unites States of America exists. It probably did not seem like such a big deal then, and some of us just look at it was a little part in U.S. History, but that little detail means so much more, like why we live in America today...
