The Circuit

Hi everyone,

After reading "The Circuit" this week in class, I want you to think Panchito's character. How do you think his experiences as a young boy in a migrant family will shape his early life and his future? Will his family's decisions to keep moving and farming hurt him or make him a stronger person? How do you think his family's decisions will affect him and his siblings in general? Give reasons for your answer.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Panchito has had a rough childhood. His experience as a migrant farm worker will shape his life in future in both good and bad ways. He will become stronger and more motivated to learn because of these experiences. Also these experiences will make him a stronger person because he will be able to cope with different situations better.

  2. I think that based on his experiences as a young boy in a migrant family will make his future be a sad, lonely, dirty life, all his family members will ignore him and he would just be scarred for life. I think that his family's decisions of keep moving and farming will just hurt him even more because, he will realize that his family will always move that there's no point in being friends with anyone, which would hurt him because he would end up a loner. I think that his family's decisions to keep on moving will also affect the whole family because they would end up being a bad family, and if they ever get a house and a better job the family would just ignore each other and fight all the time.

  3. As a child it has been tough for Panchito to do what he wants. He cannot go to school and has to support his family. As a migrant farmer he has been traveling all around California with his family to earn some money for his family. It is hard for him to move on every time from farm to farm, and moving makes him sad. This will vastly affect his future which is kind of tough to predict for me. Over time, this will make him stronger and more understanding of why his family is always moving.

  4. I think that Panchito's experiences as a migrant farm worker will effect his future. It will effect him because instead of learning like most children his age, he is supporting his family by working. I think that the decision of moving will effect him because it's hard to keep on moving and to have friends especially for Panchito. It has already affected him because when his teacher was going to teach him how to play the trumpet his family was already ready to move again.

  5. For Panchito i think that being a migrant farmer will help him appriciate life more. I also think that being a migrant farmer will show him that you need to make money and you need a job to provided and take care of a family. I think that moving will build charector, but it will show him not to have long time relationships with people because you will leave them. Moving from place to place for every fruit season will effect the family in ways like not feeling at home and living in poor conditions. The family will have to stick together and love and help each other to stay as a happy family in my point of view.

  6. Panchito's character is that he is a farmer but always has to move because they are migrant farmers. His experiences for a young boy wouldn't be that good because he didn't go to school for a long time and he only knows english that Mr.Lema thought him. Yes the moving will hurt him because he will not have a education and won't be smart but his parents have to work so they can get food and money so they can keep a family. Family's decisions will affect his siblings because they are small and they have no experience they just go where there parents travel and take them.

  7. i think that his early life experiences will help him become a tougher person, and that when he became an author he has a few stories to tell. Continuously migrating won't hurt him personally, but he will always feel alone because as soon as he makes a friend, their family has to move.

  8. Panchito's childhood was rough and he couldn't do everything he wanted. I think his family's decision to keep moving will make him stronger, since he is living in these hard times and living through experiences like this, but Panchito has the motivation to learn and go to school. The family's decision will affect the children in general because they don't go to school as much as other kids do and they don't get the same amount of education.

I think that Panchito's experiences as a young boy in a migrant family will affect him, because they are constantly moving which means that Panchito can't have any real friends. If he does they will never see each other, because he is always moving. His family always moving will make him a stronger person, because he will get used to the fact that they are poor and that they will have to do the job they are doing so they will have the shelter and food they need. I think he reason that the family's decision will affect Pachito and his sibling because they are poor and I think they will try to go to college and try as hard as they can to turn successful and help out their parents.

  10. Panchito's family's decisions might affect Panchito by making him want to somehow get out of the life that he is living. Make him want to reach out of his plain of knowledge and expand his horizons. His life might also give him a motive or topic to write about. The families decisions might affect the smaller siblings by influencing them and showing them that this life is the only one there is. This doesn't affect Panchito as much because he is able to attend school and learn more than his siblings.

  11. i think ponchito will try to do the best in order to succeed in life. his family are illegal immigrants, that are trying to find work. ponchito doesn't stay in one school for more than a month. i think by his family keeping on moving is a good way for ponchito to learn how to take care of himself and maybe he will find a way to keep his education moving.
