Hello 8th Grade!
Are we ready to start the long weekend? Before we do that, let's discuss the story we read this week, by Gary Paulsen. "Stop the Sun" concluded with Terry finally hearing about some of his father's experiences in Vietnam. Given that Terry now understands his father a little better than before, what do you think will happen next? Will Terry still be embarrassed by some of his father's actions caused by PTSD? Will his father continue to open up to Terry? Has their relationship changed or remained the same? If so, how has it changed? Explain your answers.

I think that Terry's dad will open up to him and help him try and get over ptsd. Terry and his father's relationship will get stronger to me because now that Terry understands some of his dad's problems the dad will open up more because he can trust his son and know that Terry will understand.
ReplyDeleteI think that Terry will not be embarassed by his father again. It was a great idea for Terry to ask his father about what happened in the war and why he was acting weird, because there is nothing wrong with being curious about a close family member like in Terry's position. Terry's father will open up to Terry more often and their father/son bond will be closer than before since Terry understands what his father is going through.

I think terry's father will open up to terry, but i think that by judging on how bad the Vietnam war was that terry's father will never recover from PTSD. I think that their relationship has changed because now terry actually knows whats going on so they will better understand each other.

I think the father will open up terry because the Vietnam War was very bad and he got injured heavily but I think the father will never recover from the PTSD. I think there relationship will be better because terry knows everything about the war and he already knows what's going on.

ReplyDeletei think that after the end of the story, terry and his father will continue to talk about his father's problems. Also terry learned how to cope with the embarrassment of his father's actions, and their relationship has changed, because terry now partially understands his father's problems.
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't think Terry will be embarassed by his fathers problems because now he has an idea of what his father went through. I do think Terry's father will still open to Terry because Terry can possibly help his dad get over PTSD, from his understanding of the Vietnam War and what his father went through.I think their relationship remained the same, but now Terry knows a little more about his father's life.
ReplyDeleteI think that Terry will stop being embarrassed by his father because he has started to imagine what his father feels like with Vietnam syndrome. Also their relationship will be better because they can confide in each other more often.
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't think that Terry will be embarrassed by his father any more because Terry now understands what his father had went through. I don't thinks Terr's dad will open up to Terry any more about the Vietnam war because he doesn't want to be reminded of it. Their relationship has become better because Terry knows a little bit more about his father.
ReplyDeleteI don't think terry will be embarased by his father again, if anything, their relationship will be stronger because of their conversation. I think Terry will also admire the things that his father has been through and done.
ReplyDeleteI think terry wont be embarrassed anymore because he finally knows how his dad feels and understands the emotional pain his father gets. Terry's relationship with his dad will get stronger because terry and his dad are communicating and learning about each other a lot more.
ReplyDeleteNow Terry understands more since his father himself told him about the war. Also Terry won't be embarrassed because he know what his father is going through. Since the worst thing happened to Terry's dad and he told Terry about it I'm sure he would open up more to his son. The relationship will be better between Terry's dad and Terry because Terry's dad won't hide anything anymore.
ReplyDeleteNow that Terry got a glimpse of what his dad went through, i don't think he will be as embaressed anymore. However, i think he will be a bit embarrassed if his dad has a seizure in pblic again. After there first talk, i expect Terry's father to be a little more open about his war expeiriences, and maybe over time, Terry's embarressment will go away completely. They definetly have a more open relationship now, and they will have a closer bond, due to Terry's father's stories.
ReplyDeleteI think Terry will appreciate what his father has done for America and he will no longer be embarrassed by his father's actions. Terry's father might still hesitate to tell him some things but he still will open up to him because Terry understands him more.
