The Importance of Respect

Hello 8th Grade Students!

As you know, this month's Character Education word is "Respect." We all know how important it is to truly understand the meaning of respect. Based on the video we watched today and what you already know, please define the word "respect" in your own words. What does it mean to you? How do you show respect to others? (Parents, teachers, friends, even strangers). Do you require respect from others? If so, who? Include details in your answer.

Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Respect is how much responsibility you think another individual has. it also means how you value that person in life by agreeing that some people are higher than you are and some are lower than you are. i show respect to my parents by listening to their commands and obeying their rules. i show respect to teachers in a similar way, because they are there to teach me something about education and life.

  2. Respect is a feeling of appreciative, often deferential regard in technical terms, but what i think respect is: When you are nice to people and you always say please, have manners, don't yell at anyone, and always be nice to your family members no matter what, because they could be gone before you know it and you will regret ever saying any mean thing you told them.

  4. Respect to me means to show appreciation to your elders or by even respecting what elders say. I show respect to my teachers, friends, or parents by when they tell me something I keep it in mind i don't answer back lets say the teacher caught me talking i don't answer back or even show an attitude to the teacher so I wont get in trouble or anything bad will happen and my parents will get mad at me. I also respect my elders lets say when they come to my house and there is no room to sit I would get of and let my elders or my grandparents sit down instead of me.

  5. In my opinion; respect is a trait that everyone must have -in order to show someone that you care or show a reasurance towards that person that you mean no harm or threat. Sometimes it can be difficult to bare with the responsiblity a person has to have to keep him/herself being respectful all the time. However; respecting others, (old and young), shouldn't be a hastle if it's included in your everyday communication skills. I show respect to others by using this technique on a daily bases... For example; Although it can sometimes be difficult for them to understand what I'm trying to say, *specifically elders*, I try my best to respectfully get my message across.

You will feel good once you have respected or payed attention to a friend, family member, or anyone who has a part in your life. It's not difficult to be respectful; have good manners, don't talk back, and always remember the way you would like to be treated.

  12. To me, Respect is the act of treating people the way you would like to be treated. Listening to others, and valuing their opinions or decisions is one way to show respect. If you are kind and patient and really try to think about what it is like to be in the other person's shoes you are showing respect. You should respect your teachers, friends, siblings, parents, and other family members. It is also good tto respect those older than you. Wheather its 3 years or 30 years, you should always respect those older than you.

  16. i think respwct means that, to obey and listen to your elders, such as teachers, parents, etc.. And at the same time being respectful means that for example if someone tells you somthing that they dont want anybody else to know you respect that person and you dont tell anybody. Or when you listen carefully to the person speaking thats respect as well.

  18. Respect is a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements. Having respect means that you show the other person that you take in consideration to their opinion. For me, showing someone respect in a relationship, means that you are very patient with that person and you are a good person! :)
